Welcome to Tanzania! Thank you for choosing Sustainable Safari Tours. Mount Meru, the second-highest mountain in Tanzania, is located approximately 20 km east of Arusha town. Standing. It lies within Arusha National Park. Mount Meru features one primary route to the summit, which can typically be completed in three days, but we highly recommend extending it to four days for better acclimatization. Many climbers use Mount Meru as a preparatory trek before attempting to climb Kilimanjaro.

Day 01: Momella Gate to Mriakamba Hut

>> After breakfast, we will depart from your hotel in Arusha and drive to Momella Gate. Once we arrive, we'll complete the payment process and begin our climb with a picnic lunch. Our first destination is the Miriakamba Hut, where we will enjoy dinner and spend the night.

Accommodation: Budget camping

Day 02: Mriakamba to Saddle Hut

>> After breakfast, we will continue our climb to the second hut, known as Saddle Hut. This section of the trek is significantly steeper compared to the first part. In the afternoon, you have the option to attempt a climb to Little Meru Peak and back. Afterward, we will return for dinner and spend the night at Saddle Hut.

Day 03: Saddle Hut to Summit to Saddle Hut

>> Wake up at midnight and enjoy a cup of tea before beginning your ascent to Big Meru Peak. Navigate the rocky path as you make your way to the summit. After reaching the peak, return to Saddle Hut for a hearty breakfast. The rest of the day will be dedicated to resting, with lunch and dinner served at Saddle Hut, where you will spend the night.

Day 04: Saddle Hut to Momella Gate

>> Leave Saddle Hut and descend to Momella Gate, passing by the first hut, Miriakamba. After reaching the gate, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Arusha before continuing your journey home or heading to Zanzibar.
