Day 1: Arrival in Lushoto and Hiking to Magamba Forest

Upon arrival in Lushoto, you'll meet your local guide and receive a briefing about the hiking tour. As you hike, you'll encounter remnants of German colonial history, such as the old bunkers scattered throughout the forest. The path gradually leads to Rangwi Convent, a quiet and picturesque retreat nestled among rolling hills. Rangwi Convent now serves as a guesthouse, offering simple but comfortable accommodations. The evening can be spent exploring the convent's gardens and enjoying a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere.

Day 3: Rangwi Convent to Mtae Village

On Day 3, the hike heads to Mtae Village, known for its incredible hilltop viewpoint often referred to as "the end of the world." Leaving Rangwi, the trail weaves through forests and across open plains, offering stunning views of the Usambara landscape as it stretches to the horizon. Along the way, you'll pass small farming villages and encounter locals tending to their crops. Arriving at Mtae Village in the afternoon, you'll head to the famous Mtae Viewpoint to watch the sunset over the plains below. The expansive views are spectacular, with a panoramic vista that spans distant peaks and valleys, making this one of the tour's most memorable moments. Afterward, you'll return to the village for an overnight stay, enjoying the warm hospitality of the villagers.

Day 4: Mtae Village to Lushoto

• Distance: 12 km (hiking) and transfer back to Lushoto
• Duration: Approximately 4 hours of hiking and 2 hours by car

On the final day, you'll hike back through forested paths toward Lushoto, taking in more scenic views of the Usambara highlands. If time permits, you may stop at the Irente Viewpoint on the way, another stunning vantage point offering a different perspective over the plains. After a half-day of hiking, a vehicle will meet you for a transfer back to Lushoto.
