1-Day Debere Libanos and Portuguese Bridg Latest itinerary

>> Debre Libanos takes around two hours. The reputed 13th-century mystic Saint Teclehaimanot erected the monastery in Debre Libanos by standing on one leg in a cave near the freshly completed church for seven years until his other leg deteriorated and fell off. This journey allows guests to blend history and culture with excellent birding. As we go over the Sululta Plain, we may stop at an Oromo roundhouse to learn about their way of life. Jemma Gorge is our first stop in Debre Libanos, where you will get the opportunity to wander for an hour while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The Nile's tributary, the Jemma River, drops 1000 meters to the valley below. The Banded Barbet, Black-headed Woodland Oriole, White-billed and Red-billed Starlings, White-winged Cliff Chat, White-backed Black Tit, White-cheeked Turaco, and Hemprich's Hornbill may all be found in the canyon and woodlands around the church. We will also witness the native Gelada, or bleeding heart baboon, of Ethiopia.
