This one-day hike leads you up to Mandara Hut and back to the Arusha. It is a good way to give you a full picture of what it takes to be part of a Kilimanjaro trekking expedition. This adventure is perfect if you travel with children who are not ready for the full hike yet, or if your holiday is too short but you still want to enjoy the essence of what Kilimanjaro has to offer. Marangu is home to black-and-white colobus monkey living in the branches of tropical trees growing along the trail.

>> You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and taken to the Kilimanjaro National Park (Marangu Gate, 1860m). The drive will take approximately 2 hour. Once the necessary gate registration is completed, your trek will begin by hiking through the dense rainforest.

Alongside impressive vegetation, you will catch a glimpse of black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and various bird species. Our knowledgeable guide will inform you about Kilimanjaro and will explain the different species of plants and animals you will see.

After 3-4 hour hike, you will reach Mandara Hut (2700m), where you will have a well-earned rest and lunch, followed by a short hike (15 minutes walk) to the Maundi Crater, to enjoy wonderful views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Northern Tanzania and Kenya. Later you will return to the Marangu Gate (2-3 hours walk), where your vehicle will be waiting for your transfer back to your hotel. On the way back you can enjoy sunset and the day‘s memories.
