This safari is designed for the avid “bush lover” and covers a huge area of Kruger National Park from the North to the South. All the camps we will visit en route are well known for high densities of at least one or two of the “Big Five” species and each offers a very different atmosphere. Day 01: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park - Adventure Begins
>> Embark on the adventure at 7:40 am with a road transfer from O.R. Tambo airport to Phalaborwa, a town near Kruger National Park. Enjoy the scenic journey through the Drakensberg Escarpment. Meet your Wild Planet Safari guide in Phalaborwa, own expense lunch, and head to Kruger's northern gate, Punda Maria.
After check-in, proceed to tonight’s camp in the north of Kruger. Punda Maria camp offers amenities like a swimming pool, a waterhole-viewing hide, a shop, and the renowned flycatcher trail for bird and vegetation enthusiasts.
Explore the Mahonie loop, encountering diverse wildlife such as Nyala, kudu, impala, zebra, buffalo, and elephants. Return to the camp to gather around the campfire, relishing the magic of the first evening in Kruger.

Day 02: Kruger National Park - The Far North
>> We start with a morning coffee, venturing north through a landscape blending open expanses with Mopani thickets—home to buffalo herds and majestic elephants. This route offers exceptional wildlife sightings and perfect lighting for photography enthusiasts.
Reach the Pafuri picnic site for breakfast. Continue to Crooks Corner, where the Luvuvhu and Limpopo rivers converge, marking the meeting point of South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. The panoramic view is surrounded by lush forests, a paradise for nature enthusiasts.
Back at camp we stop at waterholes, observing animal activity. Enjoy lunch at camp, followed by relaxation at the swimming pool or leisurely moments at a bird hide. The afternoon features a game drive, timed for predator sightings as the sun sets.
We gather around the campfire for a traditional meal, savoring bush flavors. This evening marks the last night in the far north, perfect for reflecting on the day’s adventures and sharing stories under the African sky.

Day 03: Kruger National Park - Northern Section
>> We begin with an early drive around Dimbo Mountain in Punda Maria. Stay vigilant for the elusive leopards that may grace the landscape. Return for a delicious breakfast, then embark on the next leg south.
Our southward route leads us to Shingwedzi, a serene camp nestled along the Shingwedzi River. The 70 km drive unveils buffalo, elephants, waterbuck, impala, and leopards. Even rare antelope species, like Eland and Roan.
Shingwedzi camp, with its tranquil setting, invites unwinding while enjoying breathtaking views of the river's sandy beaches. Spend hours observing wildlife along the riverbanks.
On arrival, relish a delectable lunch, enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the pool or a rejuvenating siesta. Another safari drive awaits, tracing the Shingwedzi River's course, passing waterholes frequented by spotted hyenas, and riverine forests—an ideal habitat for leopards.
The day ends with dinner at camp under the vast African Skies.

Day 04: Kruger National Park - Central Kruger
>> Today hosts one last safari in the Shingwedzi area. We set out to follow the river, carefully scanning the low-lying branches of the giant jackal berry trees, hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive leopard. On our return, a scrumptious breakfast awaits, marking the end of our time at Shingwedzi.
We embark on a journey further south toward our next destination, Letaba. The 110 km drive takes us through the landscapes of Mopani and bush willow, offering glimpses of diverse wildlife along the way. An own expense lunch at Mopani Camp adds a pause to our scenic journey, providing time to savor local flavors.
Arrive late afternoon in Letaba. Nestled on the banks of the Letaba River, enjoy breathtaking views of the river. Letaba features a Park Shop, swimming pool, restaurant, and The Great Elephant Hall—a museum dedicated to the largest elephants in the history of Kruger.
As night falls, dinner is prepared over an open fire. The evening offers a perfect opportunity to relax.

Day 05: Kruger National Park - Central Section
>> We venture out in search of incredible wildlife.. The Letaba River is known for herds of buffalo, elephants, and leopards. Keep an eye out for hippos, crocodiles, and antelope species. A delightful breakfast awaits at a scenic picnic site, offering a moment to savor and share stories. The leisurely drive back to Letaba maximizes wildlife sightings.
Upon return, Letaba's facilities provide an escape from midday heat—swim in the pool, browse the Park Shop, or relax. A scrumptious lunch sets the stage for an adventurous afternoon, with another captivating game drive exploring diverse ecosystems.
Late afternoon light enhances the bush's colors, creating a magical atmosphere as we seek out wildlife more active in cooler hours. As the sun sets, we return to camp for a delicious dinner, concluding a day filled with remarkable wildlife encounters. Day 06: Kruger National Park - Central Section
>> The morning starts with a short sunrise drive along the Letaba River, tracing east—a known area for a shy lion pride. Early hours provide a prime opportunity for lion sightings. Return to camp for a hearty breakfast.
Bid farewell to Letaba and head south toward Satara. En route, traverse open savannah grasslands, ideal for grazing animals like zebra and wildebeest. The drive sets the stage for wildlife encounters against Kruger's vast backdrop.
At Satara, enjoy a well-prepared lunch. The afternoon allows relaxation before an afternoon game drive. Satara, nestled in Kruger's grasslands, attracts diverse grazing animals, an excellent setting for wildlife observation.
As night falls, dinner is at your own expense at the camp restaurant. The evening offers a chance to join a night drive with a trained Kruger ranger. This shared experience adds excitement as you search for nocturnal animals, hoping for glimpses of elusive big cats on the hunt.

Day 07: Kruger National Park - Southern Section
>> Commence with an early morning drive, exploring the captivating Satara area. Our focus remains on awe-inspiring predators—keeping an eye out for the leopard, lion, hyena, cheetah, and rare wild dog. The early hours offer prime opportunities to witness these predators in action. With luck, immerse in the dramatic spectacle of a predator on the hunt.
After the exhilarating drive, enjoy a delightful breakfast at a picturesque picnic site. We return to camp, unwinding and relishing facilities under the midday sun. Stroll along the camp’s fence, spotting animals, or opt for a refreshing swim.
Post-lunch, head out on an afternoon safari. By now, you may have checked off many animals from your list. Perhaps a rare bird species or unexpected wildlife interaction will add to the day’s discoveries.
We return to camp. The day ends with a dinner around the crackling fire and surrounds of the serene bush.

Day 08: Kruger National Park - Southern Section
>> Today, we gather for coffee, gearing up to explore the open grasslands—a perfect habitat for the cheetah. Our skilled guides ensure the best chance of encountering these magnificent cats as the day begins.
Upon return, breakfast sets the stage for our journey. With fond memories of Satara, we pack up, embarking on a 90 km drive to Skukuza. En route, traverse areas renowned for lion sightings, pausing at iconic water points that attract a plethora of wildlife.
Arriving at Skukuza around 1 pm, enjoy an own expense lunch at the Sabie River, served at the camp restaurant. Skukuza, Kruger's largest camp, is the administrative hub.
After lunch, unwind using camp facilities, swimming pool, Park Shop, museum and Sabie River walkway.
In the afternoon, embark on a safari drive in Skukuza, known for excellent lion-spotting opportunities. Aiming to locate a pride with an impressive 20 members. Dinner is served under the stars in our makeshift bush restaurant.

Day 09: Kruger National Park - Southern Section
>> We gather for coffee, igniting our senses for the adventure ahead. We set out on a sunrise safari drive, following winding rivers eastward.
Our quest is to uncover the secrets of giant tree lower branches, where elusive leopards may rest or feed. Morning light is ideal for encountering elephants, white rhinos, and, with luck, the rare black rhino.
A pause at a picnic site offers the perfect setting for a bush breakfast, surrounded by nature. Returning to camp, having experienced Kruger's untamed beauty, lunch is a leisurely affair, enjoying facilities before the final afternoon safari. This part of Kruger reveals the African wilderness in all its majestic splendor, teeming with life and offering opportunities for remarkable wildlife encounters.
Upon return, we gather around the fire for dinner, a culinary delight cooked over the open flame, concludes your unforgettable safari experience. As night falls, immerse in nature's symphony, cherishing memories created over the past days.

Day 10: Kruger National Park to Johannesburg
>> This morning, Kruger National Park may unveil one more surprise, as the wilderness often reserves its most enchanting moments for farewell encounters.
Our journey follows the Sabie River. In the soft morning light, we search for predators retreating after a night of activity. With some luck, we might witness the resident wild dog pack around Skukuza—a captivating end to our safari adventure.
Returning, we gather for breakfast, reflecting on incredible wildlife encounters and shared moments throughout the past ten days. We proceed to the departure point for the return transfer from Kruger to Johannesburg.
The transfer departs from Hazyview at 12:30 pm, reaching Johannesburg between 17:30 and 18:30, allowing ample time for your next destination.
Note for those with flights on this day: International flights should not be scheduled before 19:00, and domestic flights after 20:30, ensuring a stress-free conclusion to your safari adventure, accommodating any unexpected delays.
