You will be camping near the river. (FB).

Day 03-05: Liuwa Plain National Park
>> In the morning, you will hike to an island to get the best view of the falls. Afterwards, you will drive further north to Mongu and cross the Barotse flood plains to the Liuwa Plains National Park. There are few roads. However, this is part of the park’s attraction: around 3660km² of untouched Africa. Most of this is a vast honey-colored plain of grass, with just the occasional water pan, island of raffia palms, or a small tree belt interrupting the scenery.
End of October tens of thousands of gnus (about 45.000) as well as zebras and buffalos will join the more resident red lechwe and reedbucks.
The open plains are particularly good for oribis. Hyenas are the main predators here, while wild dogs, cheetahs, and lions are dispersed on the plains. Camping in the bush (running water, showers, and flush toilets are present). You are requested to set up their tents. (3xFB).
- Time: 8-10 hours
- Meals: Budget camping Inside Liuwa Plain NP
- Accommodation: Budget camping > Inside Liuwa Plain NP
Day 06: Mongu
>> After packing up your camp, you will drive to Mongu. You will have a stop-over at the edge of the Barotse floodplains. Here you can stock up for the next few days in Kafue National Park. You will be camping on the shore of Makapaela Lake with white sandy beaches. You are requested to set up youir tents. (FB).
- Time: 8-10 hours
- Meals: All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
- Accommodation: Budget camping
Day 07-08: Kafue National Park
>> You will drive through the pristine Miombo forest to Chunga. Several small rivers cross this area. These leave several waterholes in the dry season for the animals to quench their thirst. Wild dogs, which roam large areas of the park, cheetahs, and lions are among the inhabitants here. Accommodation will be camping on the banks of the Kafue River. Participants are requested to help with setting up tents and loading the vehicle.

- Meals: All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
- Accommodation: Budget camping > Inside Kafue NP
Day 09: Lusaka

You will transfer to Pioneer Camp, where you will spend the night in beautiful chalets (or similar). You will have dinner in a restaurant (own expense) (B/L/-).
- Time: 8-10 hours
- Meals: Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
- Accommodation: Pioneer Lodge > Mid-range lodge located near Lusaka (City)
Day 10: Chipata
>> En route to Chipata, you will drive through a beautiful mountainous landscape and stop at Luangwa Bridge, a thriving market, where all kinds of baskets and mats as well as hand-carved items are offered. From there, you will carry on to Chipata and stay overnight in modern rooms at Protea Hotel (B/L/-).
- Time: 8-10 hours
- Meals: Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinks not included
Day 11-14: South Luangwa National Park
>> In the morning, you will start your travel to Mfuwe and your campsite outside the park border. South Luangwa National Park is known for its abundance of African wildlife: Thorneycroft’s giraffes, Cookson’s gnus, Crawshay’s zebra, and big herds of buffalos and elephants.
Game drives along the Luangwa River often produce spectacular sightings. Hippo families can be seen in great numbers in the river, unparalleled in Africa.
During the dry season (July to October), many side channels of the river dry up, leaving the fish trapped. This attracts many different species of predators, such as the African fish eagle, jackal, and hyena, to mention but a few.
The colorful Carmine bee-eaters are often seen perching in front of their nests on the river banks.
Participants are requested to help with setting up tents and loading the vehicle.
