Day 01: Begen Danakil Depression

>> You will be met by our guide at the Semera Airport. To go to the Danakil Depression, we're driving. Your first stop should be the hot springs of Lake Afdera, the salt lake in the Danakil Depression. You'll visit this lake for a swim in the afternoon. The base of Erta Ale is reachable by car. You may leave after lunch at 1:30 pm. Erta Ale to Dodom is 9.5 kilometers away, and it takes 1 hour. There are little desert towns along the way. Our camping supplies, including food, drink, light beds, and mats, are delivered to the volcano by camels at about 5:00 pm. You'll spend the night there, camping, watching the lava flow. The Danakil Depression is considered Ethiopia's most striking and challenging natural feature by Erta Ale.

Day 02: Hadele-Erta-Afdera-Dallol-Ale

>> Today, you will leave for Hamad Ela at 4:30 pm, a better village with a population of roughly 500, following an early breakfast. You will see numerous camel caravans and be able to view the sunset from the very shallow Assale Salt Lake.
You'll visit Ragad (Asebo) in the morning for a tour of the area where salt is mined. The Afar Depression covers 1,200 km2 (460 sq mi) with salt, and you may observe the process of breaking the salt off the earth.
It is being loaded onto camels by locals who have chopped it into rectangular pieces. Traveling on, you will arrive in Dallol and explore the various landscapes sculpted by volcanic activity: Dallol + Lake Assale + salt canon, camel caravans, camel caravans behind you, and a drive to Lake Afdera.

>> You might get another chance to witness the breathtaking sunrise at Lake Afdera on this particular day. Following breakfast, you’ll head to the town of Semera. You will be dropped off at the airport in preparation for your journey home.
