The park is also famous as it has the largest concentration of elephants in the world and majestic baobab trees! You can see herds of up to 300 elephants around the Tarangire River. The river is the primary source of fresh water for the animals. In the dry season, they come here to drink or just to enjoy a bath to cool off from the hot sun. During the end of the dry season, elephants dig into the riverbed to reveal underground water or look for baobab trees to slake their thirst. Day 3: Central Serengeti National Park Game Drive
>> After breakfast at the camp, you will continue with a safari at central Serengeti, Serengeti National Park is Africa’s most famous park due to the largest concentration of game on the continent and the migration of millions of wildebeest.
The most impressive nature documentaries were shot in this beautiful park. ‘Serengeti’ comes from the Maasai language meaning ‘endless plains’ and this rightly describes it. With almost 15,000 km2 (6,000 sq miles), Serengeti National Park is the second largest park in Tanzania.
The annual wildebeest migration of more than a million wildebeest is probably Serengeti’s main attraction. It is a truly impressive sight to see all those mammals thunder across the Serengeti plains, in search of water and fresh grass. A dangerous journey for the wildebeest and zebras. After the full-day game drive in central Serengeti, you will go back to southern Serengeti and stay overnight at your hotel outside of the park.
