If you are fortunate enough, you will catch lions during one of their rare bouts of daytime activities. It will be fascinating to watch the social interaction between pride members, especially the playful ways of lion cubs, under the watchful eyes of their mothers. You will arrive at the flamingo-fringed Lake Nakuru in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. You will embark on a comprehensive game drive in this scenic park, which includes visits to viewpoints that offer superb photo opportunities. Lake Nakuru is one of several Rift Valley Lakes, and its ecosystem supports a wide ecological diversity, with flamingos (greater and lesser) and other water birds being the area's major attractions. The ecosystem provides for about 56 species of mammals, including the white rhinos and buffaloes, and a variety of terrestrial birds, numbering nearly 450 species. Amboseli National Park is situated south of Nairobi. Most of the park consists of a dry, ancient lake bed and fragile grassland with patches of acacia woodland. The southern area has several small, rocky, volcanic hills. The vegetation around the Ol Tukai swamp is lush with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms. The park is the best place to view large herds of elephants up close. There is an immense view of Mount Kilimanjaro across the border of Kenya and Tanzania. The park is dominated by the vast Lake Amboseli, which is dry outside the rainy season. You will spend your night at Ol Tukai Lodge.
