8 DAYS RWANDA GORILLA TREKKING AND WILDLIFE

Upon arrive at Kigali International Airport, where you'll be greeted by your guide who will pick you and transferred to your hotel in Kigali. After settling in, take a leisurely afternoon to relax and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Rwanda's capital city. If time allows, you can explore the city's rich history and culture, perhaps by visiting local markets or cafes.

Early in the morning after breakfast you'll depart early from Kigali and head towards Akagera National Park, a journey that typically takes about 2-3 hours. Akagera is one of Rwanda's premier wildlife destinations, known for its diverse ecosystems, including savannah, lakes, and woodlands, making it home to a variety of wildlife. Upon arrival, you'll check into your lodge and have lunch before embarking on your first game drive of the safari. This drive provides an excellent opportunity to spot Akagera's famous animals, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and lions. In the late afternoon, you'll enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you can witness the beauty of the park from the water while spotting hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. After explore the beauty of Akagera national park you will heading back to your lodge / camp for overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, you'll set out to explore the park's diverse habitats, including the savannah, lakes, and wetlands. The drive offers the chance to encounter a wide variety of wildlife, from the iconic "Big Five" (lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and rhinos) to herds of giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. The park's diverse birdlife also makes it a paradise for birdwatchers.

During the game drive, your guide will share insights into the park's conservation efforts and the animals' behavior, making the experience both educational and exciting. As you travel through the park's varying ecosystems, you may also visit some of the park's lakes, such as Lake Akagera, known for its stunning views and opportunities for wildlife spotting. After a thrilling day of game viewing, you'll return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, you will transfer from Akagera to Nyungwe, which is approximately a 5 - 6-hour drive, passing through scenic landscapes and picturesque Rwandan villages. The drive offers an excellent opportunity to take in Rwanda's rolling hills and beautiful vistas, often referred to as the "Land of a Thousand Hills." Upon arrival in Nyungwe Forest, you will check in to your lodge and have time to relax before embarking on an exciting afternoon adventure. Nyungwe Forest is known for its pristine rainforest, and you'll have the chance to enjoy some of the park's highlights. This may include a nature walk to explore the dense forest, spotting various primates such as colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and other wildlife species. In the late of afternoon, you will be heading back to your accommodation for overnight.

After breakfast, you'll head to Nyungwe Forest National Park for a briefing before embarking on a chimpanzee trek through the park's dense rainforest. Guided by experienced experts, you'll track chimpanzees in their natural habitat, observing their fascinating behaviors such as foraging and socializing. Following this thrilling encounter, you'll enjoy a canopy walk, where you'll walk on a suspended bridge 50 meters above the forest floor, offering stunning views of the treetops and a chance to spot birds, monkeys, and butterflies. The day ends with a return to your lodge, where you can relax and reflect on the unforgettable experiences in the rainforest.

After breakfast, you'll transfer to Volcanoes National Park, located in the northwest of Rwanda, home to the majestic mountain gorillas. The scenic drive takes you through picturesque landscapes, past terraced hills and traditional Rwandan villages, offering a glimpse into the rural life of the country. Once you arrive at Volcanoes National Park, you will check in to your lodge, relax.

After an early breakfast, you'll transfer to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing by your guide and the rangers. The trek to find the mountain gorillas begins early in the morning, and it can take anywhere from a few hours to the whole day, depending on the gorillas' location. During your trek, you'll hike through the lush forests, sometimes encountering other wildlife like monkeys, birds, and even forest elephants.

Once you locate the gorillas, you'll have a rare and intimate opportunity to observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat for about an hour. Watching a silverback lead his family or a young gorilla play in the dense jungle is a deeply moving experience. After the trek, you'll return to your lodge to relax and reflect on the incredible experience

After breakfast, you will travel to the village, where you'll have the opportunity to interact with local communities and learn about their way of life. The village offers an immersive experience with traditional music, dance performances, and displays of local craftsmanship. You may also participate in activities such as preparing traditional Rwandan dishes or learning about local customs and practices. Visit to Iby'Iwacu will give you a deeper understanding of Rwanda's culture and the importance of conservation in community development. It's a great way to connect with the local people and their traditions before your journey back. Afterward, you will be transfer back to Kigali, where you'll arrive in the late afternoon or evening. Upon arrival, depending on your flight time, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure.
